"Willowbank" was the two storey residence of James Linton (1839-1907), run by his wife Sarah Anne as a boarding house. James Linton was an early settler of Palmerston North and was Mayor 1879-1882, 1884-1885. The family moved to Sydney, Australia in 1897.(Not to be confused with 'Willowbank' built by Mr John O Batchelar at Fitzherbert).
