Flooding in FoxtonMore Info →

The photograph captions read "Some Submarine" and "Toby and Billie has some fun in the Foxton Floods, 1916". During late August 1916, wide spread flooding from Rangiotu through to Foxton caused many roads to be covered with water, many impassable to traffic. After some careful manipulation, trains were able to continue running. Boat men had to rescue local settlers, delivering them to the local store and post office.
