Miss C.E. Warburton
also W.W.S.A.
NATIONAL SAVINGS OFFICE
P.O. Box 5006.
WELLINGTON.
28th June, 1945.
The Chairman,
National Savings Committee.
Dear Sir,
I recently received from Mr. W.L. Ward, Governor of the Reserve
Bank and Chairman of the National War Loan Council a [letter?] expressing
his appreciation of the services National Savings had [rendered?] to the
recent War Loan. Mr. Ward states:
To you, I would like to say a special word of appreciation of the
service rendered to the country as a whole by the National Savings
Organisation. In this and in previous loans, National Savings
investments have played a vital part.
As Chairman of the Council, I desire to express my deep appreciation
for your support as Chairman of the National War Savings Committee.
Furthermore, I would ask you to extend to all members of your
Committee and your District Committees and their associates, my
sincere appreciation of their valued co-operation in this work of
National importance.
I deeply appreciate, as I know you do, Mr. Wards kind
references to our organisation and on your behalf I have expressed
appreciation of the Banks many courtesies and ready assistance which so
greatly assisted in the fine results achieved by National Savings.
To Mr. Wards very appropriate remarks, I should like to add my
own and the N.Z. Committees grateful appreciation of the magnificent job
National Savings Chairmen, Committee members, Chief Postmasters, Post-
masters and not least District and Local Organisers, have done through-
out the country.
It is eloquent testimony to the wonderful team which has been
welded together that after almost five years of intensive campaigning
such remarkable results over £4,500,000 during the loan period have
been achieved and that in the face of very real difficulties.
For your unquenchable enthusiasm, dogged, perseverance and
initiative which have produced these results, please accept the grateful
thanks of the N.Z. National Savings Committee, which joins with me in
wishing that the remainder of the National Savings year may prove a
very fruitful one in your own district.
We only wish it were possible to get around and have a warm
hand-shake with each one of you, but as this is beyond the bounds of
practicability, we trust you will regard this letter even though it
be cyclostyled as acting as our personal proxy.
With kindest regards,
Sincerely yours,
[TN Smallwood?]
CHAIRMAN.
N.Z. National Savings Committee.
