Grounds of Carow Ladies' College

This two-storey house was constructed about 1891 by Mr & Mrs C A Von Blaramberg and served as the family residence and the Carow Ladies’ College (also known as the Carow Girls’ Collegiate School) until about 1902. It was situated in Carow Street, but its main entrance was via a long driveway from Grey Street. From 1902-1908 it was the private residence of Duncan Matheson, who then sold it to the Catholic Church. In 1923 the building was cut in half and moved on rollers to the south side of Fitchett street, where it was the St Joseph’s Convent High School until 1974. The building was demolished in the 1990s to make way for a retirement village.

Awapuni Hospital, Maxwells Line

Opened 15 Apr 1915, the Awapuni Hospital, was originally known as the Old People's Home of Palmerston North, catering for men and women. The Manawatu-Wanganui Area Hospital Board sold the land to Te Hotu Manawa O Rangitāne O Manawatu Marae Trust and it is now an Urban Marae. Some of the buildings remain, but have been greatly renovated.

Trinity Methodist Church, Cuba Street

Methodist services began in Palmeston North in 1871. Because of growth it was decided to establish a church in the southern part of the town and land was purchased in Cuba Street, on the corner of Domain Street, in 1893. However, it was not until 1924 that the Trinity Church was built on the site. In 1989 the St Pauls and Trinity churches decided to unite on the Broadway site and this building was sold to the Apostolic Church.
