There was a week of events to celebrate Palmerston North being granted Borough status in 1877. Here, the Army salute the Mayor of Palmerston North, Mr G. Tremaine. The Parade troop was made up of a detachment of the engineers, infantry and army service corps, and was led by Major E.R. Firth.
