The Dittmer home was constructed by Henry Dittmer and his sons from locally milled rimu and matai off their land at Scotts Road, Kahuterawa, also known as Hill Top Road and Motu Rimu. Henry and sons, Herman, John, Henry and William, farmed cattle and sheep at Kahuterawa c1904-1920.
