Shown here is the entrance to No.2 Tunnel part of Arapeti Dam, part of the Mangahao Electric Power Scheme. The Mangahao Electric Power Scheme provides hydroelectric power and is situated near the town of Shannon. It serves Wellington, Horowhenua, Taranaki, Hawkes Bay, and the Wairarapa.
