A Colour Postcard of Broad Street from Princess Street

A Colour Postcard of Broad Street from Princess Street

The junction of Duke Street (now Princess Street) and Broad Street (now Broadway Avenue) is in the foreground of this colour postcard. The large house on the left stands on the site of the present "Princeway Buildings", on the corner of Princess Street and Broadway. This house was built for Mr David Pringle (a saddler) who later sold the property to Mr W F Durward, a draper. His son, Mr H J C Durward, carried on a medical practice in the house for many years until his retirement about 1965, when the house was demolished. The spire in the centre of photo belonged to St Patrick's Catholic Church.
