James Ernest Walkley, enlisted in the Wellington Mounted Rifles and served in World War One. He died 9 August 1915 at Chunuk Bair, Turkey, and is buried there. He was listed as the brother of S. Walkley of Auckland. His name appears on the War Memorial in The Square, Palmerston North.
