Entrance to one of the mines dug by Alexander Menesdorffer (and others) who sought platinum in the Kahutarawa Valley area from the late 1800s.

This is one of the vertical mines that was dug and now lies in Hardings Park, an area owned by the Palmerston North City Council. The ladder was placed by PNCC.
