"First Swim in New School Baths" Foxton Beach School

This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 12 December 1960 "When the new baths were officially opened by Mr. W.B. Tennent, M.P., at the Foxton Beach School on Saturday afternoon a number of the pupils vied to be first into the new pool. Despite a cold wind and intermittent rain, the children splashed round in the pool. A special display which was to have been held was abandoned because of the weather. The photograph shows some of the children in the pool with members of the official party in the background."
