Local historians weekly "Back Issues" article in the Manawatū Standard. For a time, the Pellow family was the only New Zealand company making custom made dance shoes. Albert Pellow started making dance shoes in Pitt Street Palmerston North in about 1930. John Albert Pellow took over the company in 1951, followed by Ted Anderson, Scott Robertson and John Fabian. The firm made a variety of soft dance shoes, shoes for gymnasts and shoes for bridal wear. The company closed in the 1990s.
