"No Cars Passed this Point" - Flooding

Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 25 February 1958, page 9: "No cars could pass this point, about one and a half miles from the Tangimoana township, and by 10 o'clock the water had reached a depth of 18 in. on the road. In the background is a Manawatu County Council grader which negotiated the flooded road to investigate the position of the township."
