This image depicts Frank (Frances Leslie) Berry and possibly his wife Mary Elizabeth (nee Ridland) outside the 'Savage' backcountry hut. it is believed this may have been situated near Franz Josef Glacier as other glass negatives from this family set include images of the glacier and surrounds.
Frank Berry was the managing director and working proprietor of Berry Engineering in Palmerston North from the mid-1930s after its founder, Frank's father Edwin Daniel Berry, left New Zealand to conduct Christian missionary work in Fiji.
