This photograph is of Palmerston North Boys' High School sports ground and adjacent North Street Park. It is believed to show an inter-house marching competition, which was held at the conclusion of the school's athletic sports day. The old swimming baths near the Opera House in Ashley Street can be seen in the background, and the large building to the right is the T & G building.
