Gypsy Moth aircraft as an honor guard over the newly arrived "Tainui", after it completed an International Air Race.
De Havilland Rapide aircraft flew to Palmerston North after competing in an Air Race, the final part of the flight from Australia taking 12 hours and 9 minutes. It was the first aircraft to fly from England to New Zealand.
The dangerous, in the dark landing, at Milson, causing the plane to crash in to a fence, damaging the wheel spat. People were able to view the aircraft at the aerodrome the following day.
