One of four photographs that shows a parade of soldiers in The Square, Palmerston North. This group is shown marching just down from the PDC building. Lt Michael Joseph Philpott can be seen on the far right in the first row of three men. He was held back from service abroad during the war because he was a married man with young children. He trained troops during the war and served in Japan in 1946. He was a trained electrician and was one of the many soldiers who was sent to Masterton to help in the aftermath of the Wairarapa Earthquakes in 1942.
