This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 13 February, 1959. "Ten boys and girls graduated at the 18th course for learner drivers in Palmerston North. The courses were first started as part of the Safety City project and have continued since the project closed. The licences were presented yesterday by the chairman of the Palmerston North branch of the Motor Retailers' Association (Mr Martin Jolly). The top graduate of the course was Carolyn Hight. The photograph shows (from left to right): Back row, P Reesby, L. Kainins, M.Watt, Traffic Officer K. Stewart, M. Forbes, A. Young, J. Dixon and G. Craig; front row, Traffic Officer G. A. Syversen, Carolyn Hight, the chief officer (Mr C. J. Robinson) and Mr D. C. Pryor."
