This image was taken for the December 17th, 1978, edition of the Tribune weekly newspaper, and was published with the caption: “The five people who received life membership badges at a Christmas function of the Aged, Widowed and Invalids' Association held in Palmerston North. From left to right they are: Mrs R. Kerr, Mrs E. Cole (a past secretary and foundation member), Mrs B. Keene, Mr A. McKechnie, and Mrs M. McCulloch. (A life membership badge is also being given to Mrs J. Beckett who was absent from the Christmas function.) The presentations were made by the association's president, Mrs T. Adlam. Special gifts were made to Mrs Keene, who was celebrating her 87th birthday that day, and to Mrs Cole, whose birthday occurred the next day. Auditor and foundation member, Mr McKechnie, also received a gift, and flowers were presented to Mrs Kerr, a past president. Mrs McCulloch recently celebrated her 90th birthday.”
