They depict Manawatu MP and supporters awaiting results from the 1978 election. Note: The images suffered a fault during their development and are the best quality possible.
Born Wellington 26 January 1919, Leslie Walter Gandar represented the Manawatu Electorate as National Member of Parliament 1966-1978. He was a former Minister of Science and Technology and Minister of Education. He was also High Commissioner of New Zealand in London 1979-1981.
These images form part of the Manawatū Evening Standard Negative Collection. Unfortunately, only negatives between April and December 1978 are held.
