Malcolm Charles McGregor and Henry Campbell Walker entered the London to Melbourne Air Race, 1934, flying a Miles Hawk aircraft, named “Manawatu”, owned by the Manawatu Centenary Air Race Committee. The plane ended in fourth position in the handicap race. Their achievement created much public interest through out New Zealand, and they toured the country displaying the famous aircraft.
