Description: These images were taken for the June 4th 1978, edition of the Tribune weekly newspaper, the first of which was published with the caption “Alan Wycherley, of Rongotea, did well in the 2500cc class, but fared worse in the "all in" race. That's him on the ground at the edge of our other picture.” [See image 2025N_2017-20_Tribune_043307-0014]

The short article read: “The Manawatu-Orion Motorcycle Club's first junior moto-cross was held at the club's Kawakawa Road, Feilding, circuit last weekend. Numbers of youngsters taking part were not great, but the club hopes that its next meeting, in June, will attract the numbers that are seen at Wellington and Hawke's Bay events. One of the club's organisers, Mrs M. Shirriffs, said the Wellington and Hawke's Bay meetings attract 50 or 60 youngsters every time they are held. Junior riders do not have to belong to the club to participate. The Kawakawa Road circuit has been open for two years. Last Sunday the second round of the club's current championships were held, attracting 32 riders from Palmerston North, Feilding, Wanganui and Wellington. The third round of the four-round championship will be held on June 25. Results from Sunday's event were:
