Clockwork Orange - Palmerston North's First Discotheque
More Info →- Description
-
The Clockwork Orange opened in December 1969 and closed in May 1970 after financial difficulties and trouble controlling the club's patrons. The manager was Ian Kingford-Smith. Opening night was marred by a violent brawl and the club struggled to shake it's less than respectable reputation. According to a story that ran in the Manawatu Evening Standard on March 19 1970, the Clockwork Orange was Palmerston North's first attempt at a discotheque.
