This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 09 June 1961 "Many young women making use of the extensions to the Y.W.C.A. Activity Block will have the work of one man to thank - Sir Bruce Levy. Sir Bruce, doing most of the preparatory work, can be seen six days a week on the site preparing for the weekend when eight to 10 men assist him. All this work is done voluntarily. Due to the building site being on a swampy area, the piles have had to be driven 15 ft. "This has been our first major difficulty to date, and the first time outside contractors have been called in," commented Sir Bruce today. Sir Bruce in working clothes appropriate to the conditions, is seen watching men knocking the top from a driven pile to bring it into the right level for the foundations. When completed the activity block will cover an area of 3200 square feet, containing basement playroom, extensions to the existing activity block and stage, with an activity room behind this."
