Description

An unknown visit by Lord Freyberg, probably while Governor General of New Zealand. Freyberg was Commander of the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force and of the New Zealand 2nd Division during World War Two. After retiring from the army he was made a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George in 1946, and took up the post of Governor-General of New Zealand until 1952. Freyberg High School in Palmerston North was named after him in 1955. He died 1963
