For their honeymoon, the bridal couple departed by train for Stoney Creek (now Whakarongo)and then got Woodfield to meet them there with a horse-drawn vehicle and bring them back to their house in Ferguson street (opposite the present Palmerston North Intermediate School) where they stayed for several days before announcing their arrival back in Palmerston North.
