The application prepared by the Palmerston North City Council in 2013 for the city's designation by the Pan Pacific Safe Communities Network as an International Safe Community. Palmerston North was awarded this status in March 2014 and was reaccredited by the Safe Communities Foundation New Zealand in March 2019.
