The field grew from early research on heart-attack recovery.
Pioneers proved exercise could safely aid rehabilitation.
In South Africa the work developed into the profession of biokinetics.
Programmes expanded to soldiers, patients and business executives.
Workplace fitness improved productivity and reduced stress.
He believes exercise can transform individuals and their families.
