Train Derailment, Manawatu Gorge
- Description
Two engine crew were presumed drowned when a goods train was derailed by a slip and fell into the Manawatu river. The body of the driver was recovered from Foxton Beach; the body of the fireman was never found. The locomotive involved in this tragic accident was Ka951.
