A week of celebrations were held to mark the elevation of Palmerston North to a city, 18-22 November 1930. An Old Identities Gathering was held 21 November, with the qualification for those attending being citizens over 55 years who had resided in the city for at least 40 years. The day included a service, luncheon and drive around the city.
