Letter from Norah Temperton

Norah Temperton wrote this letter on Wednesday 29th July 1977, and deposited it in a stove being covered up in kitchen renovations. It was uncovered in 2025. Norah and her husband Eric owned a property known as Laughing Prince Lodge, and the pair were well known in horse racing circles. Eric Temperton trained the 1971 Melbourne Cup winner, Silver Knight at the property in Awapuni. Magnifique, also trained by Temperton, placed 2nd in the 1972 Melbourne Cup.
In the letter, Norah shares details of her family, and names the jockeys and apprentices they employed.
