Broadcast on Manawatu People's Radio, 26th November 2024. Came to Whakarongo in 1986 from Wellington. Previously lived on the outskirts of Christchurch. Had been working for Plunket Society in Johnsonville. Came with two boys from a previous marriage. They went to Palmerston North Boys High School. Her house is on 20 acres which was well developed with stables and hay shed. Not involved in the community so much these days but enjoys country life. Widowed for 20+ years. Has 10-15 head of cattle. Buys them as weaners, keeps then for a year then sells them. Likes outdoor work. Hasn’t needed a vet for 15 years. Doesn’t drench cattle or fertilise the property. Uses Roundup to control weeds Learnt a lot from an old drover.
