"To Bank with Cash in Brick Form" Massey Students

Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 07 April 1961 "Most people prefer to carry their money in a wallet or purse but not the students from Massey College. Instead they pulled a mock brick through the city yesterday afternoon upon which was written a cheque. The bank honoured the cheque by writing paid across it. Then with all the pomp of early Egyptians the brick was returned to Massey College."
