Oscar Jorgensen designed this steel-framed brick and concrete building in July 1929 for Frederick Bryant, replacing one of the city’s oldest buildings. Its frontages overlooked both The Square and Church Street. Former site of of a popular McDonald's franchise, the Bryant building houses Forsyth Barr, The Cooperative Bank and Paper Plus. The building underwent major earthquake strengthening in 2013.
