“Thumbs Up From Inky”
- Description
-
This image was taken for the December 17th, 1978, edition of the Tribune weekly newspaper, and was published with the caption: “He may be flat on his back in hospital recovering from an operation, but the Tribune's ‘Inky’ cartoonist, Jim McNicol, would still like to wish his fans and other readers, all the best for Christmas. Here he gives the ‘thumbs up’ sign while staff nurse Heather Duckett looks on. We at the ‘Tribune’ office would like to wish Jim a speedy recovery, and hope to see his cartoons back on our pages soon. We resume publication, after our Christmas break on January 20. ‘I’ve got all December and half January to go - hell, I ought to be right by then,’ says Jim. And the compliments of the season to you, Jim”
This image forms part of the Manawatū Evening Standard Negative Collection. Unfortunately, only negatives between April and December 1978 are held.
