"Firemen Hampered By Children"

Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 14 December 1962, "Children over-ran a house during a fire alarm last night in Clyde Crescent. As soon as the engine arrived children were there in force. Firemen said that it would have been impossible to work or manoeuvre the fire engine if the fire had been serious. The picture shows some of the children being moved away from the home by a traffic officer." This was not the image that ran in the newspaper, but is similar, and photographed from a different angle.
