The coach, standing on the left is Guthrie Wilson (1914-1984), who taught English, History and Latin at the school between 1946 and 1955.
According to The Palmerstonian (1947 yearbook), the following were members of the 2nd XV:
Backs: Ogier (captain); O'Keefe; Madgwick; Carlton; Loughnan; Henderson; MacDonnell; and Burrell.
Forwards: Stichbury (vice-captain); Hubbard; Arlidge; Owens; Burnett; Hoffman; Harris; Mitchell; and Pope.
