This image was published in the October 8th, 1978, edition of the Tribune weekly newspaper with the caption: “Rival city drivers in the same class: Dick Marlowe left and Vallis Peet.”
An excerpt from the article read: “Two Palmerston North men, and one Feilding man, are competing Pukekoe in the Benson and Hedges five-and-a-half-hour saloon car race at Pukekohe today. Dick Marlow, from Palmerston North, will be driving the Marlow Motors Triumph 2.5 T.C., partnered by Norm Lankshear, of Feilding. And Vallis Peet, also of Palmerston North, will be partnering Wellington’s Bill Anderson in a Cable Price Toyota Corona 2000 SE.”
