This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 22nd December 1965 "This arresting crib scene, symbolic of all Christians, is set in the foyer at the Awapuni Hospital. Fiver years ago, said the matron (Mrs. N.J. Murphy), the Palmerston North Hospital Auxilliary, led by the late Mrs. A.E. Mansford, presented the hospital with the two figures, Mother and Child. Each year these have been added to, until today there are the 12 figures which are embodied in this carefully planned stable setting."
