Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip visited Palmerston North on Saturday 26 February 1977, as part of their New Zealand tour. After walking through The Square they travelled by Landrover to The Steeple Restaurant on Fitzherbert Ave to attend a Civic Luncheon, before flying to Wellington. Here they are greeted by Brian Elwood, Mayor of Palmerston North at the restaurant.
