Visountess Galway, wife of the Governor General, Lord Galway, walks through the crowds of well wishers, accompanied by J R Hardie, Town Clerk (at left). Lord Galway and Viscountess Galway visited Palmerston North not long after his appointment as Governor General of New Zealand 12 April 1935. Lord Galway was Governor General 1935-1941.
