This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 04 March 1961 "Park Road residents this morning were shown how efficiently and quietly a mob of 1000 breeding ewes can be moved through the city stock routes. The two drovers, Mr. C.A. Michie (nearest camera) and Mr. Theo Zurcher, controlled their dogs by whistled instructions. The sheep left the top of the Pahiatua Track at 6 a.m. today to go to the properties of W.A. Sutherland and Mr. Zurcher on No. 1 Line, near the city boundary, a distance of 18 miles. The drove is completed twice annually during the summer months when the ewes are taken to the hill country, as it helps to harden them for the winter."
