This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 30 November 1960 "The princical of the School for the Deaf at Sumner (Mr. H. Pickering) addressed a large gathering of parents of deaf children, and other interested persons, at the Palmerston North Hospital on Monday. In the photograph (from the left) are: Mrs. G.M. Rennie, the wife of the Mayor; Sister A.J. Vile, a tutor sister at the hospital; Mrs. Broadhurst, a speech therapist; Mr. Pickering; Dr. A.A. MacGibbon; Miss A. Woolley, a speech therapist; and the Mayor (Mr. G.M. Rennie)."
