Cows at Kawhatau

Description

This photograph of cows is included with a photograph captioned "John Roots and his Dog, Kawhatau". John Roots, an early settler, was known to have a farm at Upper Kawhatau, ten miles from Rangiwahia in the Ruahine Ranges. It was an isolated area with few services. It is unknown if this is John Roots senior or junior.
