Annie Wilton (b. 1921) attended a Herd Testing course at Massey Agricultural College (now Massey University) during World War Two and afterwards worked in the Manawatu area. Due to petrol rationing a horse and card was used as a work vehicle. Annie was the daughter of Nellie and Frederick Wilton who farmed on the “Gorge Block”, and later married Samuel Staples a dairy farmer of Pahiatua. The young girls are probably her sisters.
