The Ashhurst Methodist Church was originally built at 52 Cambridge Avenue. The first service was held on 14 March 1886. In 1911, it was mounted on wheels and relocated to 57 Bamfield Street by William Melverton's traction engine. On 15 October 2015 it was removed from this location and now forms part of a house at 56 Junction Road, Te Puna.
