The Queen, along with her husband the Duke of Edinburgh, visited Palmerston North 7th and 8th of January 1954. The commentary covers the welcome in The Square, the drive around the city streets, arrival at the Grand Hotel, the drive and back to the official reception at Rosco department store, and the next day's drive back around The Square to the royal train. This recorded commentary was made by the National Broadcasting Service, on 12 inch vinyl records. The records were presented to the Palmerston North City Council.
