This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 24 June 1961 "Sixteen debutantes made their curtsy to the Rt. Rev. Monsignor A.J. McRae last evening at the 15th annual Charity Ball in the Ballroom Astoria. Besides giving an opportunity for Roman Catholic Church girls to make their debut into society, this function is a means of raising funds for Catholic charities. Pictured are (from the left): Misses Ann Imrie, Maree Cook, Janette Thompson; front row, Misses Anne Toohey, Beverley Te Hiwa and Valerie Southee."
