Alan Loveday
- Description
Alan Loveday, born 1928 in Palmerston North, made his debut at four years old, as seen in photograph. Lovedays’ musical talent was well known and in 1937-1938 a series of benefit concerts were arranged to raise the 1500 pounds needed to send him to England in 1939, to study under Albert Sammons at the Royal College of Music. Alan made his English debut in 1946 and has subsequently played in many countries around the world. In 1955 he was appointed Professor at the Royal College of Music.
