Description

Palmerston North City Councillor Lorna Johnson hosts "Making Palmy Home", a Manawatū People's Radio series interviewing migrants about their journeys to Palmerston North. This episode features fellow City Councillor Orphee Mickalad.

Born in the Republic of Congo, Orphée survived two civil wars and eventually escaped to neighbouring Gabon with family. He talks about some of the stereotyping that happens for former refugees in New Zealand, his interrupted education and how he overcame these challenges to make Palerston North home.
